Diagnosis And Treatment

Dual Diagnosis:

When a person lives there day to day life with both a drug and alcohol dependence and a mental health illness like anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and other disorders, then a dual diagnosis is present. According to a study conducted by the National Institutes of Health, alcoholics are 2 to 3 times more likely than the rest of population to be diagnosed with an anxiety related disorder. Moreover, a  study administered by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism found individuals with a history of alcohol addiction were more than four times likely to undergo a significant depressive occurrence as those without a past history of alcohol abuse and addiction.

Alcohol and drug addiction can certainly be treated, but it is not easy. Addiction is a chronic disease, one cannot just consuming alcohol or another substance for a couple of days and be cured. The majority of addicts need repetitive long term care to stop using and make a full recovery. At The Dell Center for Therapy, our addiction therapists help our clients through out-patient treatment stay alcohol and drug free, stop using and be productive in their family and life. We recognize that no single treatment is right for everyone, therefore we tailor a customized approach to all of our clients.
